Medical Supply Chain Technician
Location: Birmingham VA Medical Center

Performs daily cycle counts on automated storage cabinets and specialty carts, restocks inventories of wards or unit supply areas and replenishes to appropriate stock levels. Delivers requested items to wards and units in the correct units of issue within the tour of duty with no more than three stock outages, errors, or complaints per rating period.
Ensures that all medical supplies remain within shelf life and rotates supplies appropriately. Monitors overstock or obsolete supplies in all supply storage carts, supply cabinets, or supply closets. Collaborates with end users to identify excess inventory and correct stock levels with no more than three instances of expired supplies, over stocking attributed to the employee, or complaints per rating period.
Reviews all picking tickets for accuracy of costs. Updates assigned supply closets or distribution points with the correct unit of issue, cost, reorder point and descriptions. Ensures that all items have the correct barcode and are placed neatly on the bins/shelves. No more than three instances of non-compliance per rating period.
1. Inventory Control and Receiving:
Ensures the receipt, proper storage and data integrity of the supplies in the inventory management system for the primary inventory.
When transporting medical supplies to patient care areas, ensures that the supply cover is fully secured.
Generates a Generic Inventory Package (GIP) "pick ticket" slip for each supply request from the patient care areas.
Avoids stock outages in the primary inventory by recommending revisions in stock levels based on demand to Inventory Management Specialists.
Customer Service:
Identifies the customer's situation properly and preforms the task required to take corrective action on the customer's questions/issues accurately within 24 hours.
Responds to customer requests for assistance promptly and in a friendly and professional manner. Listens to customers feedback and acts to resolve matters/situations within their control and referred to appropriate staff to assist with the situation.
Meets customer expectations as established through customer surveys or other appropriate feedback systems
Provides verbal and/or written information within 24 hours to customers using clear and precise communication methods.
Professional relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and others in the organization are consistently courteous and cooperative in nature and contribute to the effective operations of the workplace.
Demonstrates the ability to adjust to change, work under pressure and function as an effective team member in meeting service level goals and objectives.
Safety/Infection Control:
Effectively maintains a safe environment and complies with Central Office and OSHA standards of safe work practices by wearing the appropriate uniform and required PPE, complies with workflow practices to prevent cross contamination with no more than two non-compliance findings.
Cleans assigned supply bins and shelving on a weekly basis. Ensures no cardboard containers or packaging material are stored in primary or secondary inventory points
