Texas Woman's University is Hiring a Visiting Assistant Professor - Human Development, Family Studies, & Counseling Near Denton, TX

The Department of Human Development, Family Studies, & Counseling (HDFSC) at Texas Woman's University invites applications for a 9-month Visiting Assistant Professor in Marriage & Family Therapy. The position is expected to begin in August 2024.

Advertised salary: $52,000

THE POSITION

The position is a full-time, 9-month visiting position. Successful applicants must be in the dissertation phase of their doctorate or have a Ph.D. in the discipline of Marriage and Family Therapy (COAMFTE-accredited preferred), with a teaching, scholarship, and service record appropriate for the position (described below). The successful candidate will have appreciation for a multidisciplinary environment and a commitment to excellence in graduate education. Faculty will be expected to:

  • Serve as a core faculty member in the Marriage & Family Therapy program
  • Teach graduate level theory, clinical, research, and statistics courses
  • Teach undergraduate courses in family studies or child development, as needed
  • Provide clinical supervision
  • Participate in department/university and community service
  • Collaborate on COAMFTE accreditation related activities
  • Support the university's commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success

Required Qualifications for the Assistant Professor Rank:

  • In dissertation phase or completed Ph.D. in Marriage & Family Therapy (preferably from a COAMFTE accredited program)
  • Eligible for MFT licensure in Texas (any level)
  • Documented professional MFT identity
  • AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate designation
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience
  • Demonstrated clinical competence
  • Established research agenda and record of publications in scholarly journals
  • Documented evidence of working with culturally diverse populations
  • Willingness to engage in community/university partnerships

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated experience teaching, mentoring, and advising historically underrepresented students and being sensitive to their educational needs
  • Documented evidence of working with families from varied backgrounds and demographics

DEPARTMENT AND UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

The Department of HDFSC houses programs in Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling & Development, School Counseling, Child Development, Child Life, and Family Studies. We have two programs in Marriage & Family Therapy: An M.S. and a Ph.D., both of which are COAMFTE accredited.
