General Description: Performs computer systems analysis work involving analyzing and identifying user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems. The Systems Analyst job classification series is intended for employees who help agencies use computer technology effectively and efficiently by devising new ways to improve functionality of existing systems or networks and implementing new systems. Employees typically develop, implement, and test solutions to complex applications problems; perform systems management and integration; improve existing systems; and review system capabilities, workflow, and schedule limitations.

To promote a strong environment, TVC maintains a telecommuting policy. The policy is decided by division and contingent on continued performance. Employee is not eligible for telecommute schedule within the first six months of employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software in a help desk setting. This critical role would also provide the IT helpdesk support as well as IT asset management related tasks and any other ad hoc IT tasks for the Agency.
  • Responsible for IT asset management and tracking, manage new IT equipment quotes and requisition in CAPPS finance for employee onboarding or transfers, inventory management of IT equipment by maintaining the record of active inventory in IT Keys spreadsheet, wipe and reissue equipment and maintenance of records of surplus devices for the Agency.
  • Resolve and respond to incident and problem calls, and processes service requests and tasks.
  • Prepares and maintains operating procedures documentation for technical support, troubleshooting and maintenance documentation.
  • Analyzes new or existing procedures, information systems, or utility programs for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Tests and diagnoses systems to ensure that critical requirements are met. Designs, modifies, and implements new or revised systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow.
  • Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and active directory administration.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
Associate's Degree or higher with major in computer science, cybersecurity, information technology security, computer engineering, computer information systems, management information systems, or related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another. College Transcripts are required, it is preferred they be attached to the application.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in IT support function or IT helpdesk, technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software, resolve, and respond to incident and problem calls or related field experience.
Additional Requirements:
  • A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire.
  • This is a hybrid position with a minimum of 3 days’ work from office from 8am-5pm, Monday – Friday.
  • This position is required to work from office until the successful completion of a 6 months’ probation period.
Preferred Experience and Qualification:
  • Microsoft 365 Fundamentals
  • Azure Administration – MS Azure Cloud Certification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the limitations and capabilities of computer systems, resolving IT helpdesk issues, responding to helpdesk tickets in a timely manner, information technology equipment, computer hardware and software, computer operating systems.
  • Skill in solving problems; in scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing programs; and in troubleshooting computer systems.
  • Ability to analyze systems and procedures, to write and revise standards and procedures, and to communicate effectively.
Environmental & Physical Conditions:
Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
