Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.
REQUIRED: All applicants MUST include with their resume a document citing each of the Required Qualifications AND Preferred Qualifications, and explain how they meet them.
  • Knowledge of design and planning principles; development of conceptual design through construction drawings with consultants.
  • Ability to interpret drawings (architectural, civil, mechanical, plumbing and electrical), specifications, architectural programs and documents, codes, regulations, and written correspondence.
  • Knowledge of symbols used in the preparation of contract documents; construction terminology; construction materials, standards, codes, laws, and regulations; engineering principles and standards; and contract law.
  • Ability to understand contract documents, codes, standards, change proposals/orders, requests for information, architect instructions, and contractor’s questions.
  • Skilled in effectively directing the work of others and in motivating people; establishing rapport with a variety of clients; problem-solving and decision-making; negotiation; coordinating planning development with groups on and off campus; public speaking
  • Experience with construction management software.
  • Knowledge of campus buildings and infrastructure: utilities, streets, and drainage ways
  • Skilled in evaluating contractor costs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, write technical documents/reports/correspondence, maintain fiscal data, perform calculations and contractor estimates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or professional license in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline; Or, vocational training in a construction-related field.
  • 10 years experience managing design and construction of projects for higher education or other project types with total project budgets exceeding 10 million dollars.
  • Of the 10 years of experience, a minimum of 5 years experience managing design and construction for projects in a higher education setting, as the owner’s representative.
  • Specialty credentials, such as LEED AP, PMP, CEFP, or similar.
Job Description
Provide leadership, direction and assistance to construction managers, facilities users and design professionals with programs, planning, contract administration, and observations of construction projects.
Job Duties
Oversee designated Capital Projects. Manage project budgets of over $1,500,000. Supervise construction managers, architects, engineers and general contractors. Prepare and monitor project reports for university administration.
