TEXAS PANHANDLE CENTERS is Hiring a Caregiver [366] Near Amarillo, Tx

Position: Caregiver [366]

Program: Amarillo, Texas - IDD Psychology/Autism

Salary: $15.66/hr.

Shift available: Full-time (Monday - Friday from 8 am - 4 pm)

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Staff will maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful Trauma-Informed Care language
  • Implements and monitors behavioral treatment plans for consumers diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Intellectual Developmental Disorder (IDD) who display aggressive, disruptive, noncompliant, and/or self-harm behavior
  • Provides behavioral intervention and reinforcement of Behavior Support Plans and/or Skills Training in Texas Panhandle Centers (TPC) day programs, group homes, and family homes
  • Conducts direct observations, collects data, summarizes, and documents data
  • The Caregiver works under the supervision of the IDD Director of Psychology and Autism
  • While performing the followings duties, the Caregiver works sunder the supervision of the Specialized Services Director: Performs direct care services for individuals attending the ISS program or day habilitation program; The Caregiver is responsible for providing supervision and care to clients with IDD and/or ASD; and Responsibilities of the position may include toileting, feeding, and teaching social and independent living skills to verbal and non-verbal individuals
  • The Caregiver has no financial responsibility but is accountable for assigned property
  • Adheres to TPC Business Code of Conduct and reports concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised

Required qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • No experience required
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work; or minimum of eighth grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE) test
  • Must have a valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under agency vehicle policy
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Preferred qualifications to be successful in the job:

  • Bilingual
  • American Sign Language skills
  • Applied Behavior Analysis experience
  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with ASD and/or IDD
  • Some experience assisting in arts and crafts, music, education, recreation, vocational, physical/occupational therapy
