Texas Oncology is Hiring an Infusion Nurse Supervisor Near Dallas, TX

Overview:
Texas Oncology is looking for an Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor to join our team ! This position will support the Dallas Methodist, Charlton Methodist, Midlothian, and Corsicana location . This is a full-time Monday - Friday (hours 8:30am-5pm) position with no weekends, call, or major holidays.

What does the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) do ?
Under minimal supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for patients adhering to national and company standards and guidelines for specialty regulations. Demonstrates knowledge of physiological, psychological, and developmental and age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to provide for assessment and therapeutic management of patient/family needs. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material .
  • Prepares and administers therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable .
  • Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management
  • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
  • Applies knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
  • Clinical OversightOversees the clinical operations for all nursing clinical support activities.
  • Establishes and maintains all nursing personnel files.
  • Ensures all licensing and certification criteria are met. Assists with the review and revision of clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adequate staffing/FTEs for assigned clinicsMaintains effective nursing staff coverage and operating costs for the practice and/or satellites within budgetary parameters.
  • Participates in the interviewing and recruiting of nursing personnel.
  • Performs tasks assigned to staff nurses as necessary Demonstrates working knowledge of applicable labor laws and schedules and coordinates employee staffing including vacations, sick leave and overtime.
  • Ensure clinical operations and practice consistent with organizational objectivesMonitors and evaluates patient satisfaction and quality assurance measures.
  • Directs the correct use of charge codes and coordinates education of all staff in correct procedures per reimbursement guidelines Develops new services and activities for patients, families and staff in accordance with practice service objectives.
  • Staff DevelopmentImplement staff retention and training programs w/ support from clinic leadsCoordinates, implements, and assists with staff training, in-services, and internal developmental programs for nursing staff. Assists with annual performance evaluations for nursing department staff. Serves as mentor/preceptor and provides day to day guidance to less experienced nurses Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) will have the following background and experience:
  • Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 0-3 years of RN experience.
  • Willing to consider an entry, mid, or senior level candidate.
  • Current RN state license with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Education/Training - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN or MSN preferred RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current CPR certification required.
  • Business Experience - Minimum five years actively practicing as a registered nurse, including at least three years oncology experience.
  • One-year leadership experience preferred Specialized Knowledge/Skills - Oncology certification preferred Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card preferred
