GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs complex (journey-level) security enforcement work. Work involves monitoring and patrolling grounds; checking employees, youth, and visitors in and out of the facility; inspecting and safeguarding youth, staff, visitors, buildings, properties, and equipment; maintaining facility security; and traffic control.
Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per workweek, be on-call.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Controls entrances and exits to secured buildings; patrols grounds; monitors for unauthorized persons, fires, and unusual occurrences; and immediately reports emergencies upon discovery. (30%)
Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, youth, visitors, and other authorized personnel to maintain security of premises. (30%)
Identifies, reports, confronts, and/or apprehends persons/suspects in cases of unauthorized entry or exit from facility buildings. (15%)
Greets visitors and maintains logs/records of all persons entering/exiting the facility. (10%)
Ensures doors and windows are locked and lights are on or off as required. (5%)
Responds to alarms, investigates and reports disturbances. (5%)
Reports any presence or perception of racial, ethnic, and/or gender disparities.
Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 23 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
