To help us keep up with growing customer demands, we have an immediate opening for a Chrome Plating Technician to join the team. Teamwork is critical to our success. We know we can rely on each other to meet customer deadlines and our own expectations.

Summary:Responsible for set up, use and maintenance of plating baths, and miscellaneous related equipment including fixtures and hand tools and measuring instruments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Monitor parts as they progress through plating baths.
  • Maintain the plating line to include tank additions, tank and area cleanliness, chemical storage, and date monitoring.
  • Prepare and process parts through various plating lines including cadmium, nickel, and anodize plating.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, update and familiarize self with all manuals and correct handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.
  • Operate and maintain the Waste Treatment System in accordance with operator’s manual and METRO regulations. Maintain accurate documentation.
  • Plate, mask, rack, and clean-up for assigned jobs with the following processes: cadmium, copper, nickel, silver, hard chrome
  • Inspection of parts and determine acceptability using precision measuring equipment.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and/or job orders. Study the production schedule and estimate requirements for completing orders efficiently and on time.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED; with zero to two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of plating experience preferred.
  • 2 years of experience with pre and post cleaning surface finish requirements
  • 2 to 3 years of basic math for mechanical measurements experience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and documents, basic understanding of chemistry and have basic math for mechanical measurements.

Skills:

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and complicated written or oral instructions. Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrate close attention to detail, ability to balance multiple work assignments; organized work habits; ability to work independently. Examples include: managing many simultaneous high priority projects and user requests.
  • Proficiency with major software programs: e.g., Made to Manage, MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrate ability to use hand tools, micrometers, air gages, and other special tools. Ability to read manuals and have basic math for mechanical measurements.
