Texas Humane Heroes is Hiring a High Volume Spay/Neuter Veterinary Technician Near Leander, TX

Position: High Volume Spay/Neuter Veterinary Technician (Full-time), Tuesday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm *Four Saturdays a year required.

Organizational Background:

Texas Humane Heroes (TXHH) is a private, non-profit organization that offers dog and cat adoptions as well as low cost veterinary services for the public. TXHH is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization located at 10930 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at a high volume spay/neuter clinic. As a Veterinary Technician in this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to animals undergoing spay/neuter surgeries while assisting in various surgery areas as needed. This position requires flexibility, strong surgical assisting skills and the ability to adapt to different surgery environments efficiently.

Please know that this position is physically demanding which includes prolonged standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 lbs, etc.

Organizational Structure:

Surgery Technician reports to the Director of Medical Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Veterinarian in pre-, intra- and post- operative care of animals undergoing spay/neuter surgeries.
  • Prepare surgical packs, instruments and equipment for procedures.
  • Monitor anesthesia and vital signs during surgeries.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment to prevent infection and ensure the safety of patients.
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor patients in the recovery area.
  • Assist with cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Support the clinic teams in various surgical areas, as needed.
  • Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
  • Document patient information accurately and maintain detailed records.
  • Assist with other duties such as patient intake, discharge and client education.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a high-volume spay/neuter clinic or surgical setting is highly desirable.
  • Strong surgical assisting skills and anesthesia protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Compassion for animals and dedication to their well-being.
  • Flexibility to work in different surgery areas as needed.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and procedures.
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred. Two years of experience at a high-volume veterinary clinic may substitute.
