JOB SUMMARY
The Texas Facilities Commission is seeking Security Controls Service Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital role in ensuring the security and functionality of our buildings by overseeing and conducting repairs and maintenance on a variety of electronic security systems.
The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) builds, supports, maintains, and manages over 8 million square feet of state-owned office space, parking garages, and parking lots. Most of these facilities are located within Austin, except for six properties located in El Paso, Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Waco, and Corpus Christi.
You will be a part of a team of security controls service technicians that have oversite of the installation, repair, and maintenance of the following: Intrusion and panic alarm systems, automated door operators, automated gate systems, and CCTV video surveillance systems. The following products are typically utilized in our portfolio: Lenel S2, Milestone VMS, LifeSafety Power, Von-Duprin, Hanwha, Axis, Bosch, Lift-Master, HID, 3-Mil, Hes, DMP, Record, Horton, Best, Norton, Schlage, Dorma, Falcon, LCN and many more.
You will use your technical knowledge and experience to ensure access-controlled points within our portfolio are well maintained. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Safely performs duties in accordance with the regulations of the National Electric Code (NEC). Ensure adherence to all safety protocols.
· Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electronic security equipment including:
· Access control equipment
· Automated gate operator equipment
· Intrusion alarm and panic equipment
· Automated door operator equipment
· Electronic door hardware
· Video Surveillance equipment
· Security Controls Service Technician I - Performs moderately complex (journey-level) electronics technical support work. Work involves installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electronic security controls equipment. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Security Controls Service Technician II - Performs highly complex (senior-level) electronics technical support work. Work involves installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electronic security controls equipment. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Security Controls Service Technician III - Performs advanced (senior-level) electronics technical supportwork. Work involves coordinating the design, installation, diagnoses, maintenance, and training for electronic security controls equipment. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Security Controls Service Technician IV - Performs highly advanced (senior-level) electronics technical support work. Work involves coordinating the design, installation, diagnoses, maintenance, and training for electronic security controls equipment. May serve as a lead worker providing direction to others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Work involves installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing electronic security controls equipment. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Be able to work with limited to minimal supervision, with considerable to extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure efficient system operation.
· Must be able to work flexible hours during a legislative session and as needed.
· Occasional travel out of Travis County may be required.
· Position requires participation in an on-call response rotation.
· Prepares and submits monthly vehicle reports.
· Utilization of work order management system.
· Performs other job duties as assigned.
Education and experience
· Graduation from a standard senior high school or completion of GED.

· Driver License required to operate a State Vehicle
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS
This position requires the ability to stoop, bend, lift, and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to move 55 lbs. and, occasionally, 100 lbs. of products and materials. Must be able to work outdoors and in various weather conditions. Must be able to navigate uneven terrain and at various heights using ladders and lifts.
