Texas ESC Region 16 is Hiring an Early Childhood Center, Health Aide Near Amarillo, TX

Primary Purpose: To assist the Health Specialist, R.N., B.S.N, Center L.V.N, Special Needs R.N., and the Family Services Assistants in the effective operation of health services in order to realize the maximum positive impact on the center environment. To comply with all federal guidelines (Head Start Performance Standards, Transmittal Notices, etc.) and local Head Start policies in providing children and families with Head Start services. Qualifications: Education/Certification:High School diploma or GED requiredCurrent first aid and CPR certificates or willingness to obtain required Special Knowledge/Skills/Experience:Experience working with children birth to age five requiredBilingual (English/Spanish) preferredCandidate must have the ability to multitask, be service oriented, be a team player, be aware of and attentive to individual differences, and possess organizational and computer skills. Working Conditions: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard medical clinic equipment including automated external defibrillator (AED); special needs adaptive equipment; standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twistingMotion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extensionLifting: Must be physically able to tolerate light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds); may require regular heavy lifting (45 pounds or more) and position of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint, assisting non-ambulatory studentsEnvironment: Must be physically able to tolerate cleaning products and sanitizers, exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases; tolerate occasional travel between worksites; regular exposure to noiseMental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress and self-control in the presence of children; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasionRegular Attendance is an essential function Major Responsibilities and Duties: Engages in respectful goal-oriented partnerships with families to promote student success and family well-being.Helps maintain the health clinic under the supervision of the center L.V.N.Assists with examinations and screenings.Maintains records and performs clerical work:Enters data on children and families into computer as needed.Assists with filing forms in children’s individual folders.Assists Center LVN with update of monthly Child Tracking System (CTS) sheets.Updates, distributes, and corrects emergency notification information as needed.Assists center secretary with receptionist duties as needed.Accompanies a sick or injured person to his/her home or hospital when assigned.Communicates effectively with children, parents, and staff.Makes appropriate requests to Center L.V.N., Special Needs R.N., or health staff secretary when medical supplies are needed.Performs special procedures under the direct/indirect supervision of a registered nurse.Assists in cleaning of bodily wastes and changing diapers.Monitors student absences and makes referrals for follow-up as necessary.Assists with coordination, administration, documentation, and storage of medications and related supplies and equipment for Head Start children and staff.Collects and analyzes information to find new solutions to challenges as ongoing monitoring and continual improvement in services.Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures.Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by supervisor.Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.Performs other duties as assigned.
