Texas Children's Hospital is Hiring a Laboratory Systems Analyst II Near Houston, TX

Job Summary

We are searching for a Laboratory Systems Analyst II -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will manage all phases of a system implementation and or upgrade projects for Epic Beaker and other lab information systems.You will also participate in reviewing and recommending improvements to system use for operations or process control. You will be involved in assessment and modification of systems configuration, testing, debugging, and documenting changes to applications. Additional responsibilities include consultation with customers, workflow assessment relative to system use, administration, documentation, and quality assurance related to application deployment and use.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and direction to end users (EU) and departmental leadership on workflow design and revision, process improvement, quality, and safety that can be realized with appropriate implementation of LIS functionality
  • Assist Pathology leaders in understanding LIS configuration options and potential impact on operational efficiency and quality
  • Assist Epic staff with application configuration, Epic-LIS interface design, and maintenance and laboratory orders and results reporting within the institutional electronic health record (EHR)
  • Provide direction and consultation for reporting, updating and modification of results and other laboratory related information transmitted to the EHR in support of clinical care
  • Prepare written reports and manage meetings related to Pathology LIS projects
  • Use report writing tools, and where necessary SQL or other programming languages to extract and format data from LISs needed for quality, operational and other purposes within Pathology
  • Provide support for the range of peripheral devices used in conjunction with the full range of applications used within Pathology for clinical computing
  • Assist TCH IS personnel and vendors with installation and configuration of said devices when appropriate

Qualifications

Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems, nursing, biology, medical laboratory technology, or other healthcare or another general studies field required
  • EPIC LIS experience
  • Application configuration experience
  • 5 years’ experience in information systems management required
