PURPOSE

A part of our Student Activities professional team the Coordinator for Programming will advise the Campus Activities Board (CAB) that hosts both large- and small-scale campus events, and coordinate Anchor Camp, TAMU-CC’s 3 day extended orientation camp.

This position will assist with large-scale campus programming efforts such as an annual concert, welcome weeks and Family Weekend events.

The Coordinator supervises student leaders, builds a sense of campus community through supporting and growing campus traditions, and is an active part of the Student Activities team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Functional Areas 1 : Advising Campus Activities Board

Percent Effort 40%

Provide leadership, training and support for the programming board student leaders and members. Plan and attend meetings, events, retreats and social activities.

Oversee event co-sponsorship processes, budget and risk management. Collaborate with the officers to set the vision, and goals for CAB to engage students each year.

Oversee the selection, supervision and training of CAB board members each year, and develop membership programs that support growth of CAB programs and develop pools of upcoming leaders.

Functional Area 2 : Advising Anchor Camp

Percent Effort 25%

Coordinate Anchor Camp first-year camp program. Provide leadership and directions for camp, ensuring the goals of camp coincides with the mission of the department and the university.

Oversee the development of camp curriculum including social, educational, well being and campus spirit / tradition components.

Recruits and selects student program assistants and volunteer student staff. Develop a training plan for student staff. Work in conjunction with camp facility on logistical needs and risk management.

Functional Area 3 : Large Scale Programming

Percent Effort 20%

Provide programmatic support and leadership on large-scale collaborative campus / Division events such as Spring Concert, Fall Beach Bash, Family Weekend, Islander Lights and campus box office.

Functional Area 4 : Administrative, Marketing & Team Duties

Percent Effort 15%

Coordinate all marketing and social media for CAB, Anchor Camp and team events, with assistance of

the Student Activities marketing team.

Track daily the budget expenditures, ie : keep expenses in line with the specified line items, follow all

purchasing guidelines and keep track of all expenses.

Establish working professional relationships with University faculty and staff, especially in pertinent

areas such as Event Planning, UC Operations, and Catering.

Establish goals and assessments for each area of responsibility.

Represent both Student Activities, on University and Division committees such as Homecoming and

Waves of Welcome.

Be an active member of the Student Activities team and support departmental and campus wide

programming as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Bachelor’s degree in related field.

One (1) year progressively responsible experience developing and implementing student activities, orientations, or similar programs (one year full-time or 2 years part-time / graduate assistantship).

Leadership experience in a student organization as an undergraduate / graduate.

Excellent verbal and written communications skills to be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community agencies.

Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating small to large scale university events.

Demonstrated experience in initiating and implementing leadership training for student leaders.

Ability to understand and interpret policies, rules, and regulations.

Capacity to multitask complex assignments in a fast-paced environment and to use technology to accomplish responsibilities.

Possess strong interpersonal, organizational and conflict management skills.

Ability to work within budgetary limits.

Ability to work weekends and evenings.

WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE

Master’s degree in higher education or related field.

Experience with a programming board or extended orientation camp.

Proficiency to develop and implement marketing strategies for programs.

Ability to create and implement a comprehensive calendar of student-centered events.

SALARY $40,000 - $42,000 ( Dependent upon education and experience.)

$3,333 - $3,500 Monthly
