Job Description Purpose: This position is a member of the College of Engineering's communications staff and is assigned to the Office of Alumni and Donor Relations. The position is responsible for the preparation of alumni-and-donor-related communications; developing and implementing donor stewardship strategies and recognition; and supporting the coordination of alumni-and-donor-related events for the college. This position plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with alumni and donors, ultimately contributing to the overall success of fundraising efforts and the enhancement of the organization's reputation. Responsibilities: Communications: Write and articles for the website announcing new donor gifts Write social media posts and promotional materials in collaboration with Engineering Communications Promote alumni and donor engagement initiatives Maintain content for development and related web pages Stewardship: Distribute recognition pieces, thank-you notes, acknowledgments and annual reports from student recipients to donors of the College of Engineering in collaboration with the Engineering Development Office Assist with high-profile donor recognition events in collaboration with the special events team Assist with updates to the donor database Donor Correspondence: Maintain donor relationships and promote interest in supporting the College of Engineering Foster ongoing communications (correspondence, newsletters, proposals, informational and promotional materials, gift announcements, etc.) Provide excellent customer service by displaying a positive and respectful demeanor and responding to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner Alumni Engagement: Assist with planning alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities Serve as an ambassador for the College of Engineering Advisory Council: Assist with logistical plans and coordination of vendors for the college-level semi-annual advisory council meetings Special Programs and Services: Assist with planned programs and services, such as the Engineering Walk Brick Campaign and annual fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday Other duties as assigned What we need: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. No experience. What is helpful: Seeking candidates with either professional experience in communications or a degree in communications. Seeking strong writing and editing skills as well as a solid understanding of communication theory, strategy and storytelling. Experience in alumni relations, donor stewardship, or fundraising Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good organization and attention to detail Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Enthusiasm for the organization's mission and goals Ability to multi-task and work independently with a set of guidelines Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events Familiarity with social media platforms and online engagement strategies Basic graphic design and content creation skills in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop Knowledge of best practices in alumni and donor relations in the nonprofit sector Work Location: Main Campus – College Station, TX.
