We have an immediate opening for a Biologist / Field Technician focused on the utility scale energy generation and transmission industry.

This is a mid-level position for a biologist to perform environmental data collection to support environmental permitting efforts for utility scale solar and transmission projects across the Southeast.

Responsibilities :

• The right candidate will lead jurisdictional wetland delineation determinations using the methodology outlined in FAC 62-340 and the Corps wetland delineation manual SE coastal Plain supplement.
• The candidate will perform listed species surveys for upland species including Gopher Tortoises, Scrub Jays, Sand Skinks, Burrowing Owls and other species.
• Utilizes GPS field equipment to gather data and desktop mapping tools to prepare maps.
• Prepares Critical issues analyses and writes up the findings for submission.
• Works together as a team member to complete assigned tasks necessary to receive authorizations to construct energy infrastructure projects.

Requirements :

• Must possess a BS degree in Ecology, Biology. Environmental Studies or other related majors.
• The successful applicant will have at least 5 years of relevant experience working in the Southeast.
• Ability to keep multiple tasks organized and work independently with initiative and follow-through on direction given by members of project team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must have at least one year of experience in performing wetland delineations, listed species surveys or preparing environmental assessments.

Experience with listed species survey protocols is helpful.

• Must have knowledge of Florida upland and wetland plants and their respective communities. Knowledge of State and Environmental permitting rules.
• A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
