What Will You Be Doing?

The Airline AOG Manager is a critical role tasked with the swift resolution of AOG situations to minimize aircraft downtime and ensure operational continuity. This role demands a proactive leader capable of orchestrating complex logistics, negotiating with suppliers, and leading a dedicated team to maintain the highest standards of aircraft readiness and safety.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement strategic plans for AOG risk mitigation and response protocols.
  • Lead, train, and mentor the AOG desk coordinators and Material Planning team to use company manuals, aircraft manuals where required, and other resources as appropriate.
  • Oversee the inventory of critical parts and implement inventory optimization strategies. Supports replenishment and sourcing of robbed parts, MEL items, CDL items, NEF items, part delays and critical spares inventory.
  • Continuously assess and improve AOG processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leverage technology to track AOG situations and manage the logistics of parts delivery in real-time.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders during AOG incidents and participate in daily operations meetings to provide accurate status updates. Communicate recognized safety issues promptly to management in accordance with company SMS policy.
  • Coordinate with emergency response teams for any AOG-related incidents requiring immediate action.
  • Ensure that all parts and services meet the quality standards and specifications required, and in compliance with all applicable GMM polices, CFRs and SOX regulations and policies.
  • Perform cost-benefit analysis on AOG decisions to balance speed and expense.
  • Build a global network of suppliers and service providers to ensure quick responses regardless of location, and handle order transactions with other operators.
  • Stay updated with the latest aviation regulations and ensure compliance across all AOG operations.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for AOG resolution times and cost management. Ensure loan/borrow metrics are pro-actively managed and within budget.
  • Coordinate between Purchasing, Repair/Warranty, Material Services, Maintenance Planning, Engineering and the Maintenance Operations Control centers.
  • Creates KPIs to manage performance of the AOG team and overall customer fulfillment, and works with Materials Ops to make inventory adjustments needed based on KPI results

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aviation maintenance and AOG management experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations, aircraft maintenance procedures, and supply chain logistics
  • Experience in understanding Airbus IPC and knowledge of configuration control is a plus
  • Exceptional organizational, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in multiple languages preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with aviation software and logistics tracking systems.
  • Flexibility to respond to emergencies and AOG situations as needed.

  •  Collaborates effectively in a professional environment to reach consensus.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of all modes of transportation and logistics.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates effective negotiation skills with internal stakeholders and suppliers to achieve desired outcomes and maintain operational reliability goals.
  • Capable of handling time-sensitive and multi-faceted projects.
  • Proficient in technical manuals, including but not limited to IPC, AMM, CMM, and wiring diagrams.
  • Has a complete understanding of Technical Operations functions and process flows in Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Maintenance Control, Reliability, Line Maintenance, and Quality.
  • Demonstrates behavior aligned with the company’s core values of Safety, Respect, Trust, Collaboration, Value, and Passion while communicating with personnel and representing the company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Takes a lead role in facilitating discussions and resolving conflicts.
