Test Frontier Job Board is Hiring an Accountant II Indirect Tax Near Denver, CO

What Will You Be Doing?

The Tax Accountant is responsible for assisting in Frontier’s indirect tax accounting and compliance with a hybrid focus on domestic and international tax accounting and compliance. This person is also a critical thinker who looks for ways to improve processes to make the Tax Department more efficient.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly tax returns and supporting documentation for indirect taxes, including:
    • Sales/Use
    • State & Local Fuel (reporting & refund claims)
    • Federal Excise (Passenger & Fuel)
    • Passenger Facility Charge
    • Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (Passenger & Aircraft Clearance)
    • TSA 9/11 Security Fee
  • Reconcile indirect tax liability accounts against amounts filed and remitted on returns to tax jurisdictions.
  • Calculate and prepare month-end accruals for all indirect tax types.
  • Ensure compliance with all license and exemption requirements.
  • Provide support for all indirect tax audits.
  • Prepare payment for all property tax notices.
  • Review AP invoices for proper use tax accrual.
  • Prepare weekly, bi-weekly and monthly passenger count validations and related payments for foreign jurisdictions.
  • Work with external advisors to ensure filing of foreign indirect tax returns and payment of taxes.
  • Reconcile indirect tax liability and payable accounts to underlying GL detail reports and tax activity reports from the reservation system.
  • Conduct research and analysis on indirect tax issues, including the applicability of a tax to certain flight routes.
  • Monitor and maintain indirect tax rates applied within the reservation system.

Other Functions

  • Assist with preparation of apportionment calculations, review property tax valuations, and responding to property tax assessments.
  • Provide AP with supporting payment documentation to ensure all vendor records for tax payments are properly recorded.
  • Coordinate communications and on-sight visits for all indirect tax audits.
  • Prepare rate and configuration updates for passenger tax/fee collection.
  • Liaise with external advisors and internal business functions.
  • Identify process improvements and cultivate change.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of indirect tax experience
  • Strong computer spreadsheet and word processing skills
  • Experience with Alteryx a plus
  • Airline industry experience a plus

  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all business information
  • Available to work occasional extra hours throughout the year based on departmental needs

$60,200.00 - $75,250.00
