Tessera Therapeutics is Hiring a Scientist I/II, Immune Oncology Process Sciences - Cell Based Analytical Development Near Somerville, MA

Company Summary:
Tessera Therapeutics is pioneering Gene Writing™- a new biotechnology designed to offer scientists and clinicians the ability to write small and large therapeutic messages into the genome, thereby curing diseases at their source. Gene Writing holds the potential to become a new category in genetic medicine, building upon recent breakthroughs in gene therapy and gene editing while eliminating important limitations in their reach, utilization, and efficacy. Tessera Therapeutics was founded by Flagship Pioneering, a life sciences innovation enterprise that conceives, resources, and develops first-in-category companies to transform human health and sustainability.
Position Summary :
Tessera is looking for a Scientist to join the Immune Oncology Analytics Team to advance early-stage cell-based unit operations for ex vivo and in vivo cell therapy applications using our novel Gene Writing and Gene Rewriting technology. You will work closely with the Immune Oncology Process team and Cell Therapy Research to help develop analytics to inform scale-down and scale-up models to generate these cell therapies for both ex vivo and in vivo applications with the goal to bring these therapies to clinic. You will also develop critical assays that will determine CQAs of non-viral mediated delivery of Gene-writing technology in both ex vivo and in vivo settings.
Are you a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who enjoys collaborating to develop and execute novel analytical strategies across all stages cell-based therapies development pipeline? If so, this represents a unique opportunity to join a dynamic, rapidly growing, and highly collaborative team.

  • Work collaboratively with research, process, and analytics teams to develop and characterize analytical assays in various platforms including but not limited to flow cytometry, ELISA/MSD, qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Apply a matrix approach for potency assay development to address proposed mechanisms of action.
  • Execute developed analytics to inform in-process phenotypic and functional characterization of gene edited cells.
  • Collect and interpret data, prepare experimental reports, and present results related to experimental studies.
  • Support the development of protocols, test methods, and analytical sampling plans.
  • Collaborate and support various process and analytics groups within Tessera.
  • Act as subject matter expert in the execution and training of analytical protocols to internal and external collaborators.
Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience generating gene edited cell lines and characterizing working cell banks
  • Experience with ELISA/MSD, qPCR, and/or ddPCR is required.
  • Experience with cell isolation, enrichment, transduction (viral or non-viral), and expansion.
  • Excellent technical, written, and oral communication skills
  • Has a passion for collaboration and is a dynamic individual hungry to join a thriving, early-stage biotech environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and experience with non-viral gene delivery and gene editing a plus.
  • Experience in cell assay development and characterization is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of design of experiments (DoE) and analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with R, python, and automation liquid handlers for HT assay development is a plus
