Tesoro Group is Hiring a Land Surveyor Near Phoenix, AZ

Tesoro Group is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to work with one of our Land Development clients.

  • Salary: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
  • A valid driver's license is required, and you must pass a DMV and Drug Screen.
  • This position requires 3 to 4 weeks of travel at a time minimum! PER DIEM is $195 and if you work 6 days per week you get it for 7 days.
  • 60-85 hours per week on average due to travel time.

The company is divided into two divisions: Power and Land.

  • Power includes – Wind, Solar, Transmission, and Substation
  • Land includes – Commercial, Residential, Transportation and Public Infrastructure

In this role the Survey Crew Chief will:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients.
  • Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management, and Equipment Maintenance policies.
  • Field layout for construction purposes
  • Collection of necessary field data to process ALTAs, boundary and design surveys
  • Ability to use line coding systems of Westwood design.
  • Understand and interpret construction plans.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Trimble GPS, Trimble robotic total stations, and differential leveling equipment
  • Be passionate about providing the highest level of customer service in the industry.
  • Work proactively with coworkers and contractors to maximize efficiency and project performance.
  • Must have a clean driving record and valid driver’s license at the time of application.

Physical Requirements

  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances.
  • Physically able to perform the duties normally associated with the position.

Preferred Experience

  • An associate degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
  • Land Development, both Commercial and Residential, and Public Infrastructure Projects
  • Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff
  • Experience searching for/recovering Public Land Survey System monuments.

Required Experience

  • Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train/mentor survey crew members
  • Must be able to operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes surveying activities pertaining to control networks, boundaries, ALTA’s, topography, and construction staking.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving history
  • OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid or ability and willingness to acquire it
  • Must be able perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
  • Basic “office suite” computer skills
