What to Expect

The Master Electrical Officer is part of Tesla’s Energy Field Operations team and is the license holder of record. As Tesla’s license of record, the Master Electrical Officer will work across departments to ensure high quality, code compliant, and cost effective installations of Retrofit Solar, Solar Roof, PowerWall, EV and all other permittable work as necessary. The ideal candidate will leverage their years of electrical expertise in the creation of regional standards and policies, internal and external facing training programs and become point of contact for all external jurisdictions within the licensed market. All necessary training, tools, and equipment will be provided.

What You’ll Do

License holder of record in market of employment. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations regarding electrical installations including state and local labor requirements
Collaborate with Utilities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) to solve for trending issues and improve process optimization. Partner with various teams and departments to ensure compliant and high quality installation of energy products. Solve for unique problems that impact overall performance and success of electrical operations in the region
Partner with regional and national leadership to identify cost savings and efficiency gains through material standards and labor best practices. Deliver exceptional customer service in non standard and VIP projects coordinating all electrical work, material selection, and onsite execution in the field
Partner with product engineers and stakeholders to implement organizational standards, install methodology, and targeted trainings for new products
Partner with quality team to improve electrical standards and policies in the field and assist operations teams in executing improvements. Also provide auditing support for local offices
Provide technical support and training as needed for installation teams throughout region. Serve as and own apprentice program participation and progression
Provide On Call support for emergency situations outside of business hours. Assist Manager with pre job reviews for all products. All other tasks as assigned by Manager

What You’ll Bring

Minimum 5 years’ relevant electrical experience. A valid Master Electrician License or Electrical Contractor License
Strong understanding of NEC codes and applicable state laws including labor requirements and electrical procedures.
Ability to safely handle tools and materials such as: ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc. Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.)
Position may require working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders and stairs. Capable of performing repetitious duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time
Experience using basic hand and power tools. Must have excellent computer skills. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have excellent customer service skills
Ability to work on problems with a diverse scope and assume leadership responsibility in a collaborative environment. Ability to travel within licensed territory as needed and provide off hours coverage and support for emergencies
