What to Expect
The High Voltage Distribution Team is seeking a highly-motived Engineering Technician to help us develop the next generation of vehicle level high voltage hardware. The High Voltage Distribution team is responsible for efficiently delivering power between the various components within the vehicle’s powertrain. The team works closely with other groups within the powertrain organization such as battery engineering, drive systems and power electronics to develop cohesive high voltage architecture. The team is also responsible for designing vehicle chargeports, working closely with supercharger and residential charging teams. What You’ll Do
Build engineering prototypes of new high voltage distribution hardware for future Tesla products
Run production-representative assembly equipment in the lab for engineering builds
Maintain cutting edge, lab scale assembly equipment Instrument and test engineering prototypes, including data acquisition and processing
Root cause failed hardware from field returns and validation testing, including methodical tear downs and inspections
Provide careful, detail-oriented documentation during builds, tests, and inspections
Maintain high standard of safety and organization in our lab
Travel to support product launches at our factories in Fremont, Reno, Austin, Shanghai, Berlin, and future locations
What You’ll Bring
Associate Degree, with extensive practical experience as an automotive or electronics engineering technician, or equivalent
Mechanical fabrication skills, machine shop experience, expert with hand and power tools
Knowledge in use of standard electronics lab tools including AC/DC meters, Oscilloscopes, AC/DC power supplies
Experience with metrology and data acquisition
Strong understanding of physics and engineering fundamentals
Is self-directing, able to work across the entire organization to collect parts and information to execute job responsibilities
Excellent documentation and written communication; proficient using Microsoft Office

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $65.40/hour cash and stock awards benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
