What to Expect
As aSenior TestEngineer, you will play a key role in designing reliability into Tesla Energy's products.This role follows the reliability lifecycle of the product from concept to design, developmenttesting/analysis, manufacturing, and field operation to design-in, confirm, and grow exceptional reliability at every stage. You will investigate failures through physical testing of residential and industrial energy/solar products to accurately predict the system's robustness and optimize product reliability while acceleratingTesla's next gen products'time to market.
What You'll Do
  • Spearhead execution of design verification and reliability testing of Tesla Solar products as well as system level testing in residential & industrial ecosystems
  • Determinetest solutions thatoptimizefor productreliability anddurability, DFMEA-based risk mitigations, test team resources, and programschedules
  • Design and develop custom built mechanical/electrical test setups to replicate real-life field stress conditions and develop hardware and software to automate test equipment
  • Executeproduct,subsystem,andcomponentlevel reliability/durabilitytesting
  • Conduct test data analysis, clearly communicate test results, and collaborate with design and reliability engineers to resolve issues detected in testing
  • Design and implement next generation hardware test systems and setups tofacilitatereliable design characterization and accelerated lifetesting
  • Procure and develop required test equipment, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to enhance creative component and product level reliabilitytesting
  • Facilitate failure analysis to understand root cause and drive resolution for failures originating in testing
  • Continuouslydrive design risk burndown to ensureproduct design isreliableand durable
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, reliability, and manufacturing engineers to suggest design and/or process improvements and to address reliability& durabilityissues based on understanding of failure root causes
  • Train technicians and interns tooperateand troubleshoot test systems
  • Comply withsafety policies and regulations.
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • 3-10years of experience in hardware design, design validation, hardware testing, mechanical system reliability and durability testing.
  • Knowledge of programming in scripting languages for test automation and data analysis / post-processing
  • Experience in CAD and finite element analysis (FEA) (e.g. SolidWorks, Catia, Ansys)
  • Experiencewithhand and power tools
  • Experience specifying sensors for test instrumentation andutilizingdata acquisition systems
  • Hands-on experience with data acquisition and signal analysis using Python, Matlab, and/or Labview
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with semiconductor electronics preferred
  • Experience pro-actively owning and deliveringtest engineering projectswithin accelerated validation timelines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and documentation skills
  • Experience working safely with high voltageequipment
  • Proven ability to develop reliability and durability test setups including environmental, mechanical, and electrical stress testing highlypreferred

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
