What to Expect

The Security Engineering (SecEng) team is responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining Access Control, Video Surveillance, and Intrusion systems across all Tesla corporate, manufacturing, production, and sales environments. The goal of our team is to ensure all current and future Tesla facilities are equipped with the necessary security systems that are critical for the safety of our employees as well as public visitors. As Tesla continues to grow at a rapid speed, our responsibility to provide and maintain the proper security systems to all new locations continues to increase. Our team is looking for a Project Manager specializing in Physical Security who will be able to lead a high volume of projects across our lines of business simultaneously. This role will report to our North America (NORAM) Security Engineering Program Manager and will support a high volume of fast-moving projects throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico.

As a SecEng project manager, you will be responsible for a broad range of tasks including, but not limited to, design and implementation of security systems for various Tesla locations across NORAM, effective communication with both internal and external parties, and completion of project deliverables prior to strict site opening deadlines. You will be expected to perform with little guidance while still taking the initiative, showing integrity, and operating with a strong sense of urgency, all while managing projects with complex dependencies and tight timelines. You will play a critical role in executing impactful company-wide initiatives as our team strives to continuously improve the effectiveness and resiliency of Tesla security systems across the organization.

The right fit for our team will be a highly motivated, self-sufficient candidate who will be accountable for their work and communicate their goals and objectives effectively to drive key results. They will provide insight and bring creative solutions to potential problems that they may encounter. The ideal candidate must be highly detail-oriented, a lifelong learner, and be able to break through communication barriers in a way that builds trust and creates strong relationships with all our partners. We are looking for someone who will bring the right attitude, the flexibility to adapt to consistent process improvements, and a willingness to get involved to foster alignment with the rest of the SecEng team.

  • Work with Security Engineering, Technical Project Controls, Construction, BIM and Engineering to create process improvements for Coordination, Short Interval Planning, 4D Analysis and other construction-related activities
  • Expected to work in a fast-paced, high-volume workload environment
What You'll Bring
  • Project Management Certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent industry experience
  • Physical Security Certification such as Physical Security Professional (PSP) or equivalent industry experience
  • 5 years of hands-on experience managing physical security projects including overseeing the installation of Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection, and Access Control systems
  • Experience interfacing with construction and cost control on quantity takeoffs and Work Breakdown Structures
  • Continuously meeting and exceeding internal and external customer's expectations
  • Ownership of a site's security posture and associated projects through initial site planning, initial build-out, move-add-change projects, site maintenance, and decommissioning
