What to Expect

The Tesla Bot team is seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager to drive the development of robotic hand systems. They will work daily with cross functional teams to define and track scope, development milestones and schedule, validation and deployment plans, and ensure smooth execution through multiple phases of development. This person will be responsible for tracking deliverables, resource allocation, and navigating interdependencies across multiple hardware and software teams. Strong technical skills will be utilized to lead technical reviews, identify and mitigate technical risks, and react quickly to design issues and evolving targets.

What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering, design, and software/controls teams to define the scope and objectives of the robotic hand system
  • Define and drive tasks to be performed by technical contributors.
  • Prioritize scope and feature lists to build product roadmap
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including milestones, timelines, and development metrics across multiple pathways, while accounting for workflow interdependencies
  • Lead the teams through major research and development cycles, with a focus on preparing for mass production
  • Track and maintain key component and program metrics including cost, reliability, mass, and performance to schedule
  • Regularly communicate program status, risks, and opportunities to the executive and programs team
  • Prepare and present both high-level and detailed progress reports, making data-driven recommendations for course corrections when necessary
  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment
  • Communicate with technical team members to understand progress as well as roadblocks, and escalate when necessary to enable cross-functional success
  • Ensure that all team-members are aware of upcoming program deliverables, critical dates and have access to important information
  • Work in depth with multiple engineering teams to lead technical reviews, testing and validation planning, and impact reviews for implementation planning
  • Coordinate with groups both within and outside of Tesla, including but not limited to: other engineering project managers, supply chain, manufacturing, new product introduction, and service
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in relevant engineering field, including electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or robotics, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years experience in technical program management or project leadership, in a robotics field
  • Technical experience with robotic systems is required
  • Experience in robotic controls is preferred
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive technical decisions as an impartial integrator
  • Exceptional problem-solving and project management abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a complex and fluid, fast-paced, demanding work environment

Expected Compensation

$88,000 - $300,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
