What to Expect

Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements necessitate ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. Our team works with engineering groups across various disciplines, requiring strong communication skills and a team-first mentality. You will work alongside seasoned industry experts, high aptitude recent graduates, and people from every stage in between. We look for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings.

Tesla's Cell Development team is on a mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and that all starts with battery cells. In this role you will be the lead planner/strategist embedded in the Development team. You will work with engineers and managers to develop timelines, track risks, track progress, and provide outputs for cross-functional teams. You will also be responsible for setting the standards for how we work, the tools we use internally, and setting the growth plan for our PM team.

What You'll Do
  • Work with the team to plan, document and track advanced development cell roadmap
  • Interact with the cross-functional teams and align program/project requirements with deliverables
  • Document detailed timeline that represents cell development tasks through A-phase, coordinate timelines with other PMs for transitioning designs to B/C phase development
  • Implement standardized tools for DFMEA, design & status reviews, schedules, JIRA, Confluence and other relevant tools
  • Document and prioritize pilot line cell builds and coordinate electrode and materials required to complete planned deliverables
  • Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the A-phase schedules
  • Evaluate development strategy and design tradeoffs, materials and supplier selection to outline program risks and risk mitigation
What You'll Bring
  • 5 years' experience managing design development programs in an engineering environment.
  • Strong technical skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects designed for high volume production
  • Complete understanding of iterative product development and Phase Gate processes
  • Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating program updates and schedules to management teams
  • Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and leverage cross-functional skills to meet deliverables.
  • Individual contributor and design engineering experience is highly valued

Expected Compensation

$83,600 - $285,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
