What to Expect

The Sr. EHS Specialist,Commercial Service is responsible for driving, influencing, and achieving Environmental,Health and Safety (EHS) process excellence, regulatory compliance, and overallrisk reduction throughout Commercial Service and the Utility Operations andMaintenance teams within North America.

This positionreports to the Sr EHS Manager, Energy and Charging and will ensure world-class electricalsafety standards are met and sustained across operations. The role willinterface with senior regional leadership, front-line operational staff,contracting partners, and other related teams within Tesla to drive and supportcontinuous improvement throughout Tesla's design and deployment of energystorage systems and electric vehicle chargers.

Role will require regional travel given thegeographical reach of the business.

What You'll Do
  • Foster partnerships and serve as a key advisor onEHS matters to Tesla Energy business leaders, associates, EHS members, andcontractors
  • Act as an Electrical Safety technical expert forlegal compliance and risk management across all product deployment phases,focusing on safe design, installation, commissioning, operation, andmaintenance
  • Lead the development and implementation of Tesla'sElectrical Safety program for Utility and Commercial Operations andMaintenance, including both short-term and long-term strategic plans
  • Identify operational gaps and spearhead creativeEHS solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders,encompassing electrical and other safety aspects
  • Investigate EHS incidents, analyze root causes, anddevelop preventative actions with management and business teams, whilepromoting Human & Organizational Performance principles in operations andelectrical incident investigations
  • Perform proactive, learning-focused fieldobservations to ensure compliance with EHS goals, document findings, anddiscuss improvement opportunities with supervisors, operations, EHS, and otherstakeholders
  • Lead EHS meetings to communicate improvements,learnings, and performance metrics, and actively engage in field activities toeducate, train, and empower teams on EHS concepts to minimize risk in line withTesla's EHS vision and values
What You'll Bring
  • Possess at least 5 years of progressive experience in Environment,Health, and Safety in large-scale organizations, with an educational backgroundin EHS, engineering, or related fields
  • Extensive experience in the electric power generation, transmission,storage, or distribution industries, with a preference for detailed knowledgeof lithium-ion battery storage
  • Proficient in developing and implementing safety programs compliant withOSHA requirements, along with a deep understanding of Electrical Standards(OSHA, NFPA 70-E, IEEE, NEC) and practical experience with energized equipmentin industrial settings
  • Capable of adapting to a fast-paced, globally expanding organizationusing a 'first-principles' approach, coupled with strong written and verbalcommunication skills for interacting across senior management, regulators,frontline workers, and third-party clients
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, attention to detail, problem-solvingexpertise, the capacity to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic environment,and the ability to work independently and as a proactive, creative team player
  • Proven skills in managing complex, multidisciplinary projects andassignments with accountability for outcomes, including experience in trainingand educating employees in EHS initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in applying governmental and regulatory EHSregulations in various settings, strong problem-solving abilities, effectiverelationship-building and influencing skills at all management levels, andproficiency in MS Office 365 Suite

Expected Compensation

$70,400 - $240,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
