Gigafactory Texas is looking for a Facilities Electrical Engineer to support Cell manufacturing. Come and join us to help accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy!
- Perform energy audits, provide energy usage calculations circuit analysis for critical load throughout the plant andcircuit protection for voltage sag of critical loads. This includes validation, optimization, and efficiency analysis for costsavings and reduction of energy throughout the Gigafactory
- Maintain a living risk analysis of the factory electrical distribution system while driving high and medium risks to closure.Identifying common failure modes
- Operate electrical equipment and program/adjust mediumvoltage relays
- Prepare engineering specifications for bid invitation,perform bid evaluation, and conform bid evaluations for purchase
- This position will be field based, and this person should becomfortable working in an operating manufacturing facility with ongoingconstruction activity
- Coordinate downtime activities and needs betweenmaintenance, construction, and production
- Provide base cost estimating serviceswithin the electrical scope and work with trades to drive value forTesla.
- Visit construction sites to determine compliance withdesign intent, reporting discrepancies, errors and omissions and utilizes thisinput to update standards, processes, and procedures.
- Establish standards and specifications for installation,modification, quality control, testing, operation, inspection, and maintenanceof Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) and high voltage electrical systemsaccording to commissioning standards, NFPA requirements, EPSS engineeringprinciples, and safety regulations
- Ability to drive electrical distribution improvementprojects using design change requests, power monitoring data, and advanceddetection methods
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Direct construction or engineering experiencebuilding high-tech infrastructure and operational facilities (semiconductor,solar, battery, vehicle, etc. preffered.)
- Medium voltage equipment including operating and maintainingthe equipment, troubleshooting and programming, and adjusting medium voltagerelay, variable frequency drives, soft starters, and motors
- Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA codes, hazard classifications, and HAZMAT safety protocols
- Technical understanding and experience with NETA (NationalElectrical Testing Standards) and NFPA 70B (Electrical Equipment MaintenanceRecommendations)
- High level understanding of industrial facility utility systems including IT/network, pure water/wastewater, wet mechanical, dry mechanical, controls/BMS, and gas and chemical.
- Proven track record of managing budgets and evaluatingemergency service and construction related quotes and contracts
- Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and interfaceat an executive level
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremelyfast-paced environment
