The path from mine to active battery materials is one of the greatest chemical engineering challenges of our time. This position will focus on the development and scale-up of several processes designed to increase the speed, efficiency, and environmental performance of battery material manufacturing. Candidates will be responsible for performing day-to-day operation of the pilot facility. A successful candidate will be a key team member focusing on daily pilot scale chemical operations to support various aspects of advanced chemical process development.

• Perform safe chemical process equipment and instrumentation troubleshooting, and maintenance
• Own maintenance log/preventative maintenance list for all pilot equipment
• Ensure operations area is kept maintained in terms of material storage, and cleanliness
• Maintain spare parts list and ensure all equipment/tooling is prepared to perform maintenance
• Assist in design, purchase, and commissioning new equipment
• Assist engineers and other technicians to run chemical processes such as filtration, evaporation, and crystallization
• Work to identify and optimize process conditions as well as evaluate new process equipment
• Document procedures, key observations and record experimental data
• Adhere to company policies of safety and conduct

• Experience operating safely in hands-on pilot operation, or equipment maintenance environment
• Experience of high temperature, solid handling process and operation is a plus
• Experience in tube fitting, piping fabrication and/or assembly is a plus
• Experience with hand and power tools is a plus
• Experience with lock out, tag out (LOTO) is a plus
• Experience reviewing equipment drawings, PFDs or P&IDs is a plus
• Team collaboration and results delivery on schedule
• Basic knowledge of inorganic chemistry, pH and reaction stoichiometry a plus
• Climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50 lbs
