We are seeking a multi-faceted Mechanical Engineer who willbe responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing, developing/designingand implementing countermeasures and reporting on issues affecting variousvehicle systems like Exteriors, Interiors, Lights, Body, IP, etc. The FieldQuality Engineering team's mission is to improve customer experience of Teslaproducts by eliminating field issues, in collaboration with a largecross-section of other engineering teams. Engineers on the team are responsiblefor one or more vehicle systems for Model S/3/X/Y, Cybertruck, Semi and futureprograms. This is a very hands-on individual contributor role with dutiesfocused on failure analysis and root cause activities. To be effective, theField Quality Engineer will either need to be intimately familiar with thedetailed behavior of these components and systems and the tools and equipmentused in their design and manufacture or be a quick learning generalist withsufficiently relevant background. The Engineer will work with other Engineeringteams to quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues toimprove quality, reliability, and durability of the products.

• Monitor product field performance
• Identify trending issues
• Prioritize based on severity, occurrence, or cost of eachfailure mode
• Detailed failure analysis, identifying root-cause ofproblems
• Apply knowledge of engineering and manufacturing to drivecontainment and corrective action implementation into production, design,supplier, firmware
• Communicate field performance of the engineering system,gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement prioritiesand urgency
• Closely work with, among others, a multitude of TeslaEngineering Teams, International Production Teams, International Service Teams,and Tesla's in-house FA lab to drive resolution
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and takepreventive actions
• Implement lessons learned from previous field issues intothe design process
• Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviewsto ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues areidentified and risks mitigated

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentrelevant industry experience
• Outstanding mastery of engineering and physics fundamentals
• A passion for Tesla's mission, root causing, and bug fixingare a must
• Track record of enjoying to "repair stuff", tinkering andexperimenting in your free time. We don't look for school grades, we look fortechnical curiosity, ingenuity and initiative
• Major roles in student teams such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE,Solar vehicle, Robotics or Rocketry are a plus
• The successful candidate for this position must have a broadtechnical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing,service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues as well esinternationally
• Exceptional problem solving and failure analysis skills andanalytical thinking
