What to Expect Battery cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. We are looking for anyone with an exceptional ability to solve problems in both individual and team settings. The Abuse Testing and Engineering team is looking for technicians to test for battery propagation resistance in early design stages across all programs, including vehicle and energy storage. As a result, Tesla will be able to evaluate a broad set of options for cell and module architecture, while launching and optimizing products at a rapid pace. Testing outcomes would dictate major design and manufacturing decisions on Tesla products to uphold the thermal abuse safety requirements. What You?ll Do
Conduct and lead prototype module and pack level thermal abuse testing across all Tesla battery products
Build rigs, and instrument, setup, test, and conduct failure analysis of test articles to help the team improve test capability and understand design risks
Root cause articles from validation testing, including methodical tear downs and inspections to document concerns
Safely charge/discharge, instrument, and recycle full battery packs as required
What You?ll Bring
Electrical and/or thermal fundamentals
Complex troubleshooting skills and experience
Creative problem-solving skills and experience
Ability to perform independent work, self-starter
Experience with data acquisition systems
Ability to collaborate and build test rigs to specifications
Welding, fabrication, design experience
Process improvement suggestions that lead to actions
Experience with module or pack level teardowns and inspections

Expected Compensation $24.40 - $65.40/hour cash and stock awards benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
