What to Expect

Regulatory product compliance is a critical business function and a rapidly expanding sector. The role facilitates global market access by leveraging product and process legislation. Regulatory complexity is increasing and continuously evolving with many local, national and international codes, standards and regulations.

The Tesla Compliance team is looking for a EMC Design and Test Engineer to validate and homologate renewable energy and off-board charging products. These products incorporate solar, storage, energy management and charging technologies meeting global standards such as UL, EN and CSA. In this role, you'll work with the lead EMC engineer and nationally recognized testing laboratories (NRTL) to ensure subassemblies and products comply with both internal and regulatory requirements. You'll be responsible from test plan development through to test execution, and report generation and data submission.

What You'll Do
  • Design TESLA energy products for EMI/EMC compliance
  • Test and validate TESLA energy products for EMI/EMC compliance
  • Test plan generation, setup, test execution, RCA/debug and report generation/review
  • Plan, schedule and manage In-house semi-anechoic chamber and NRTLs for achieving product compliance and certification
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for RCA and achieve final product compliance
What You'll Bring
  • Minimum Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of EMI/EMC fundamentals and the relationship between physical layout and electrical performance
  • Good understanding of RF wireless communication test standards and requirements
  • Complete hands-on EMI/EMC design and testing experience for Emissions and Immunity test standards
  • Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC test, equipment, electromagnetic coupling path analysis and debug
  • Good understanding of requirements and hands-on testing experience to:
  • FCC part 15/18/22/24/27 and CISPR 11/22/24/32/35
  • EN 61000-3, -4, -6 series
  • EN 301 489, EN 301 511, EN 300 440, EN 301 893, EN 300 328, ICES 003 and Functional safety EMI standards
  • Experience with a multitude of laboratory equipment and data acquisition tools
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Independent and can-do all attitude
  • Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of various test standards

Desired

  • Minimum 5 years in EMC test position
  • Experienced in power electronics test/debug/validation
  • Hands-on experience with EMC modelling and test automation software's like HFSS, CST, EMC32, TILE, Nexio or similar.
  • Experience in coding (Python) to support test automation
  • Highly experienced in global EMI/EMC Codes, Standards and Regulations
  • Proven track record in renewable product certifications

Expected Compensation

$80,000 - $300,000/annual salary cash and stock awards benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
