What to Expect

The GFTX Production Control team is actively seeking a motivated Automation Controls Engineer to oversee the architecture, specification, development, implementation, testing, and commissioning of diverse automated systems such as conveyor systems, pick and place robots, and automated guided vehicles, integrating them with production control systems. This role involves supporting control system projects and installations for production equipment, establishing and overseeing test plans, contributing to risk assessments, executing necessary improvements based on findings. Being open to a flexible schedule as needed, including weekends and on-call duties, is a requisite for this position.

What You'll Do

Generate aesthetic HMI screens for complex machinery that provide sufficient feedback for troubleshooting
Generate PLC ladder logic with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable using existing programming standards
Support maintenance and sustaining teams in troubleshooting difficult equipment failures and assist production in continuous process optimization of automated lines
Offer expertise in equipment design reviews and oversee the creation and approval of electrical schematics, training leadership, and maintenance documentation development
Oversee test plans, maintain programming standards, and troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, collaborating between Automation & Control and IT departments
Maintain and improve programming standards for PLC and Ignition SCADA automated systems
Troubleshoot and refine automated processes to maximize cycle and uptime, address breakdowns and chronic equipment issues by implementing corrective measures, and take part in supplier and equipment buyoffs

What You'll Bring

Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronic Engineering, or related Engineering Degree, or equivalent experience
Over 4 years of hands-on experience as an Automation & Control Engineer or Robotics Engineer focused on deploying automation and electromechanical systems in high-volume manufacturing settings
Must be proficient in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and configuration.Siemens TIA portal, S7-1500 PLC experience, S7-300 is necessary. Allen-Bradley platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix), Beckhoff is a plus
Must be proficient in HMI programming, troubleshooting, and configuration. WinCC, Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk View & Ignition SCADA are preferred
Experience with robot programming (Fanuc), backup, and restoration
Proficiency in SQL, scripting, report generation, and database tools, along with familiarity in vision systems (Cognex, Datalogic, Fanuc Vision), and expertise in using AutoCAD Electrical for electrical schematic development
Knowledge of production quality metrics and LEAN methodology
Experience in Linux and Embedded control systems is a plus
