Position Summary

The Central Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing the material commitments and agreements made across our racking product lines & markets. They analyze demand and inventory data, forecast production and distribution needs, and develop and implement plans to meet customer requirements and business goals. The central planner also collaborates with various stakeholders, such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Project Management, Manufacturing and Sales teams, to ensure efficient and effective operational commitments are made.

The core function of the Central Planning role is to ensure each and every commitment, made at the Job level, within our Epicor ERP, is a true and accurate reflection of the delivery commitment made between the project and the material delivery centers. The role will act as the primary point of contact for all schedule enquiries and changes to any given Epicor Job.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Duties)

  • Ensuring all new demand loaded into the ERP is adhering to the relevant standards for the product line from a lead-time perspective
  • Ensuring all new demand has the appropriate Sales Order / Line-Item structure - accurately reflects the expectations of the project’s sequencing needs
  • Communicates, addresses and resolves any lead-time or sequencing issues discovered
  • Constantly pulses and reviews week/plant level commitments for manufacturing & supply chain – ensuring any delivery issues are discovered and solutioned well in advance of commitment dates
  • Manage date change requests from the Sales Order system – includes assessment on ability to produce, resolving any dependencies or commitments within the ERP preventing date changes from being made
  • Ensures accurate dates are being reflected in Epicor, via careful monitoring of Need By refresh times
  • Liaises with supply order (purchase / work) owners to ensure date changes are reflected across the demand system and advises requestor if the change cannot be accommodated.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for Project Management, regarding ability to produce requests for Pre-RTF demand
  • Assess all date change requests and either approve or deny the request based on analyzing adjacent commitments, delivery options, inventory and DWC impacts
  • Actively participates in all areas of the SIOP process, including demand planning, capacity planning
  • Upon supply disruption event – the Central Planner will assess impact and adjust expectations accordingly
  • Assess Change Order viability that have date expectations lower than posted lead time Monitor and assess Field Priority lists and date expectations
  • Aids in cross functional education & knowledge share regarding delivery situations or scenarios
  • Other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and/or experience)

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 Years of Experience in Scheduling
  • 3 Years of Experience in Manufacturing Environment

Technical Skills

Microsoft Suite. Ability to navigate the internet.

Work Conditions

Environment: Office and Plant

Travel: 10%
