Community Support Service Professional (SSP)
Communication Support Staff needed to work 1:1 with a Non-Verbal 30 Year Old man with Autism to assist him while he participates in achieving Educational Goals, Volunteer opportunities, Sports, Arts, Fitness & Social activities and events. Your job would be to help him create a meaningful and fulling life.
This young man is a thoughtful and intelligent person who has a great sense of humor, and polite demeanor. He loves to be active, playing sports, being outside, working with animals and has an interest in theater. He is a pleasure to work with and has a supportive family.
Our Ideal Candidate
Has experience working with individuals who are nonverbal and on the Autism spectrum. Having experience with, or a willingness to learn how to work with Assistive Technology Devices (ATD) is an asset. Please be prepared to discuss what times of Assistive Communication Devices you’ve worked with in the past. You will be trained in becoming a communication partner and help him to be able to communicate with the wider community. Having an interest in participating in working out and physical activities while working with this young man is key as well.
You must have A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education, Counseling, or Social Work; alternatively, the ability and qualifications to secure a NADD Competency-Based Direct-Support Professional Certification.
You will be provided with direction, training, and support in the delivery of all services. You will be a valued team member who we hope will be able to provide ideas and suggestions for opportunities to be involved in the community.
You will be supported by the team and report to the individual’s Common Law Employer.
Hours
The starting, two to three evenings a week from 5 pm to 8 pm & alternating weekends with flexible hours., Flexibility with Pre-Scheduled Evening & Weekend Hours
Compensation
To $35 Hourly .66 / Mile Transportation Reimbursement, Based on Education & Experience
