GEOTECHNICAL LAB TECH

Join Our Team at Terradyne Engineering's Pflugerville Branch – Exciting Opportunity for a Detail-Oriented Geo Lab Tech! Are you passionate about hands-on work, especially when it comes to running tests on soil samples? Look no further, as we are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team.

What you’ll Do:

  • Communicating test status and results to Department Manager and/or Branch Manager
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Adhering to deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible during peak times.
  • Promoting a safe work environment and maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Assisting with AASHTO proficiency testing as required
  • General lab duties including keeping the lab and equipment clean and organized
  • Great attention to detail is required

The Geo Lab runs tests on soil samples, such as:

i. Moisture content tests

ii. Atterberg tests

iii. Unconfined tests

iv. Minus 200 tests

v. Swell tests

vi. Hand penetrometer

vii. Soil identification and classification

IMPORTANT NOTE: This job does not require a degree; we will gladly train the right person who has a positive attitude and is ready to be part of a growing company.

This laboratory is not a medical laboratory, and we do not require candidates with specific degrees in chemistry, biology, or other sciences. As a team member, you will engage in hands-on exploration of soil, delving into the diverse components that make up its composition. We challenge you to Google some of these soil tests and watch videos about how they are conducted. It will give you insight into what this job is all about!

Requirements

  • Ability to work as a team, multitasking, and organizational skills a must
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures
  • Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers and management
  • Understand importance of QC in the laboratory
  • Computer skills -- Word, Excel
  • Good math aptitude
