Senior Manager, Public Relations & Communications

Reporting to the Senior Director of Public Relations and Communications, the Senior Manager is responsible for enhancing and elevating TerraCycle’s reputation by developing and executing public relations, media relations, and communications strategies. 

In the role of Senior Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic development of public relations campaigns and compelling communications, while also overseeing event strategy and related conference speaking engagements and appearances. 

The responsibilities:

• Develop earned media strategy and execution for TerraCycle and select brand partners. 
• Write high-quality, informative and interesting press releases, media pitches and related materials, and analyze media coverage and trends to ensure a steady flow of press coverage. 
• Writes and/or reviews copy for a variety of communications materials with a keen eye for detail and accuracy, including (but not limited to) media briefs, FAQs, speeches or scripts, and spokesperson talking points.
• The Senior Manager should be comfortable brainstorming and collaborating with cross-functional teams, and must be able to come up with PR ideas and strategies “on the fly” to support requests that are made by internal and external clients.
• Build and strengthen relationships with key media outlets on behalf of Terracycle.
• Oversee event strategy and related conference speaking opportunities, assisting in promoting TerraCycle’s thought leadership across the industry.

Requirements

 Skills:

• Must be a confident communicator and presenter
• Must have superior communication skills, including excellent writing and editing skills
• Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
• Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills
• Proven track record designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at local, regional and national levels
• Strong relationships with both local and national media outlets
• Proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with an attention to detail
• Creativity when developing campaigns/promotions
• Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach
• Event planning experience is preferred.
• Experience with technologies and best practices for campaigns across multiple platforms
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related field
• 5 years of experience in public relations or a related field, and agency experience is preferred.
• Excellent computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
