JOB DESCRIPTION: As an Electrical Project Manager at TEPCON Construction, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing electrical construction projects from initiation to completion. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients, to ensure project objectives are met within budget, scope, and timeline.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: The Electrical Project Manager serves as the manager responsible for supporting the overall direction, completion, and financial outcome of a project; supervises/mentors the project staff, to include multiple Project Coordinators, Engineers, and Superintendents; and establishes operational priorities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Lead and manage electrical projects, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, owner’s representatives, property managers, subcontractors, building engineers, building inspectors, etc.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans and timelines, ensuring alignment with company standards and client expectations.
  • Coordinate and supervise construction activities, subcontractors, and construction crews to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to project specifications.
  • Manage project budgets, expenses, and financial reporting, making necessary adjustments to meet financial goals.
  • The ability to walk a job with no construction documents and create a scope of work for the client to conceptually estimate the project
  • The ability to manage multiple jobs
  • The ability to manage in house trades and subcontractors
  • Monitor project progress and implement necessary changes to ensure project milestones are achieved.
  • Conceptual estimate with no construction documents, specifically Electrical, to establish budgets and contract price
  • Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases
  • Set up and implement project procedures and techniques to assure timely buyout, shop drawing approval, and material delivery as needed
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with Owner, Architect, Subcontractors and Suppliers.
  • Maintain timely and accurate reporting to management
  • Organize regular meetings for management and subcontractors as needed
  • Review contract conditions, ensure compliance with contract terms when applicable
  • Negotiate, prepare, and issue subcontract bid packages when applicable
  • Assist with business development when applicable
  • Participate in project interviews
  • Avoid or mitigate claims and conflict
  • Supervise all project closeout procedures
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to identify and address potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports to clients, upper management, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration among team members to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Resolve any project-related conflicts, obstacles, and challenges in a proactive and efficient manner.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferably 5-10 years of working in the commercial/or residential trades
  • 5-10 years of Project Management experience in local commercial construction
  • OR equivalent combination of Education and Experience
  • Strong technical and communication skills are critical
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Familiarity with the use of Project Management Software (CMIC) NOT MANDATORY
  • Financial Management familiarity
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certified NOT MANDATORY
  • Understanding of Contract Documents & Specifications
  • Proven capability to establish specific measurable, attainable performance goals and hold others accountable for achieving them
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or related field (master’s degree preferred) not required.
  • Proven experience as an Electrical Project Manager, preferably in the construction industry (10 plus years)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Blue Beam, etc.).
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CEM, or similar are a plus.
  • Understanding sustainable construction practices and green building technologies is desirable.
