ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking is a Environmental Scientist to work alongside Senior Scientists, Project Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of the Air Force Civil Engineer Center's (AFCEC) and Air National Guard's (ANG) per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) programs. Responsibilities include providing technical execution and oversight for PFAS environmental investigation and restoration projects, direct client support, site characterization, geospatial analysis, environmental data management and reporting, monitor and track project metrics and oversee deliverable schedule, and providing technical reviews and applying quality assurance and quality control checks.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Supports PFAS environmental investigation projects with planning, oversight, analysis, and reporting.
  • Interacts directly with Client to manage environmental project tasks, including PFAS investigations and site characterization.
  • Supports hydrogeologic investigations, including conceptual site models, PFAS groundwater contaminant migration pathway analysis, and drinking water receptor studies.
  • Oversees programmatic PFAS data management processes, including data acquisition, data tracking, data evaluation and technical analysis, quality assurance review, data gap analysis, and complex data reporting.
  • Conducts research and writes and reviews environmental technical reports and evaluations, studies, work plans, and Course of Action (COA) development.
  • Develops technical fact sheets, briefings, and programmatic status reports.
  • Reviews CERCLA Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Studies phases.
  • Reviews reports for assessing functional and technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory guidance.
  • Develops visual, graphical, and tabular summaries of environmental data and trend analysis.
  • Manages work schedules with subcontractors.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • BS or MS in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related field, and 5-10 years of experience working as an environmental professional on Air Force, Air National Guard, or DoD projects.
  • 5-10 years of professional experience with federal and state environmental regulatory programs, and Air Force Environmental Restoration Program and remediation activities, CERCLA, and RCRA.
  • Experience with PFAS environmental investigations, including site characterization, overseeing environmental field work, geospatial visualizations, and developing/reviewing technical reports.
  • Demonstrated experience with PFAS investigation and restoration for DoD projects including Air Force.
  • Experience in developing conceptual site models for site characterization and contaminant migration pathway evaluations.
  • Experience compiling, analyzing, and reporting on environmental data from a variety of sources including investigation reports, ERPIMS, field observation, tabular data, databases, and other existing reports and figures.
  • Ability to identify, develop, and evaluate solutions to complex regulatory issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill commitments on schedule and meet clients' service expectations and requirements.
  • Self-initiative and motivation with an emphasis on client service while cultivating a career in environmental consulting.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in building working relationships and interacting with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong initiative with technical and problem-solving skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness, as well as a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Must poses a government-issued Common Access Card (CAC) or qualify to pass background check for the purpose of obtaining a CAC.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities and short deadlines.
