Tent Engineering is Hiring a Mechanical Engineer Near Bend, OR

Tent Engineering is a team of engineers focused on providing professional engineering services for renewable energy projects in the biogas industry. Tent works on a wide variety of biogas projects that include biogas generated from: landfills, dairies, agricultural waste, wastewater treatment facilities, and food waste/organics recycling. Tent provides full-service engineering services from feasibility through startup/operations on projects such as: Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) facilities, Renewable Power Generation, Biogas Treatment, and Biogas Collection and Control.

We are looking for an entry-level, self-motivated Project Engineer to join our growing team at our Bend, OR office.

What you’ll be doing: You’ll be working in an exciting and constantly changing environment consistent with small and dynamic engineering firms. Primarily, you’ll be working with Tent’s experienced project managers to support renewable energy projects with mechanical and process design, drawings, equipment specifications, and reports. Under this primary role, you will be involved with biogas projects from start to finish. You will, at minimum, become familiar with multiple disciplines including process, mechanical, electrical, controls, civil, and structural engineering. Flexibility and adaptability are key attributes needed for anyone considering this job. You’ll be working with multi-disciplinary teams to complete projects, often coordinating with outside contractors, engineers, and equipment vendors. Tent services projects nationwide, and the job will require occassional travel to project sites all over the country.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or similar engineering field
  • Ability/Willingness to live/work in Central Oregon

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skill
  • 2D AutoCAD Experience (not required)

In a typical biogas project, it is common to use a blower to move biogas and a heat exchanger to cool the biogas removing water vapor. Below are process conditions at various locations. Please calculate the amount of condensate to be generated from a heat exchanger and the size of chiller required. Present and show your work.
