Tennova Knoxville Physician RMC - Turkey Creek is Hiring an Endoscopy Tech, Middlebrook Ambulatory Surgery Center, PRN, Days Near KNOXVILLE, TN

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Physically able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time
  • Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or instruments
  • Requires ability to hear, see and speak
  • Able to move up to 100 pounds
  • Requires the ability to distinguish letters and symbols in the English language
  • Requires working under variable conditions and/or working irregular hours
  • Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed in the Procedure Room and Reprocessing Lab of the center with some involvement with business office and other clinical areas
  • Physically able to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and maintain varied body motions and positions for long periods of time
  • Continuous multi-tasking skills required
  • Significant contact with staff/co-workers, other employers, physicians and their staff, and other members of the health care community
  • Minimal travel may be required. Attend conferences and meetings
  • Routinely deal with proprietary and confidential information

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in preparing patient for designated procedure as requested by physician
  • Assists physician during endoscopy procedure
  • Accurately completes lab paperwork and handles patient specimens, per policy
  • Works collaboratively with the healthcare team to prepare the endoscopy suite according to requirements of patient, physician, and procedure, but not limited to assembling and providing properly functioning equipment, supplies and instruments
  • Follows manufacturer’s instructions for use for all steps of cleaning, high level disinfection or sterilization for instruments and/or equipment
  • Following manufacturer’s instructions and center’s policy and procedure, appropriately cleans endoscopy suite between cases and daily terminal cleaning
  • Uses universal precautions
  • Responds to other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or above required; Certified Surgical Technologist preferred
  • 1-3 years similar experience in an endoscopy setting
  • BLS Certified
  • Ability to make sound, reasonable decisions
  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, openness, receptiveness to change
  • Ability to identify and calmly handle inherently stressful situations with tact
  • Highly organized with ability to concentrate on many detailed requests
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with physicians and center staff
  • Maintains regular attendance
