Ten Mile- Washington is Hiring an Asphalt Laborer/Operator Near Washington, PA

Ten Mile is looking to hire self-motivated and career-driven individuals experienced in, or willing to learn, Asphalt Paving immedietly. Indvidual must be willing to both labor and learn to operate asphalt paving equipment, if not already familiar with equipment operation and techniques. When laying "hot mix" an additional paving rate will be paid out. - Year-round work opportunities in other divisions of the company available during winter months. -

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES:

  • Thorough Operational knowledge (preferred) of various types of asphalt paving equipment including but not limited to; all aspects of an asphalt paver, rollers, skid steers and attachments, milling machine, and various tack and tarring machines.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites as needed. This will include removing and properly disposing of debris and waste material.
  • Candidates must be willing to shovel, rake and finish asphalt materials on construction projects, this may include concrete, dirt and/or other aggregates. 
  • Assist in placement, displacement, and moving various traffic control devices, this may include assisting in traffic control patterns on construction site.
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials, tools and equipment properly.
  • Keep a clean working area and remove materials and/or tools from work location when not in use.
  • Lift & carry objects & materials of various weights.
  • Help maintain equipment by keeping it clean and orderly condition.
  • Use PPE while on jobsite e.g. hard hat safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.
  •  Always be aware of safety issues, maintain a safe work environment and makes supervisor aware of any issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, this may include assisting other divisions of the company when necessary.
  • Take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done. Show abilities and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience in asphalt paving and/or road construction preferred.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Have a valid drivers license.
  • Ability to maintain a Medical Examiner's Certificate for DOT vehicles.
  • Be willing to work holidays, weekends and nights when necessary.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Strictly adhere to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to customers, co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
  • Capability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Report to work at the designated start time.
  • Great attention to detail and stress tolerance.

Environment
This position will require working outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high, with occasional periods of time exposed to machine noise.
