Temple Shalom Preschool is Hiring an After-Care Preschool Teacher (2 year old's) Near Naples, FL

Monday-Friday

1:30-5:30 | 20 hours a week

Toddler - 2 year old age group

In accordance with the educational philosophy of Temple Shalom Preschool, the Teacher Assistant with implement the program under the direction of the Lead Teacher. The Teacher Assistant will follow established guidelines and provide a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom experience. The Teacher Assistant works with the Lead Teacher as a team to provide support for daily teaching and learning experiences.

The Teacher Assistant will:

· Use the Florida Early Learning Standards to support the teacher in incorporating content and activities that foster social, emotional, physical, language and cognitive development that integrate key areas of content including literacy, math, science, technology, creative expression and the arts, health and safety, and social studies in areas both secular and religious

· Become familiar with Teaching Strategies – Creative Curriculum in order to assist Lead Teacher with curriculum goals

· Provide support and assistance to the lead teacher in the classroom during instructional and transitional times

· Maintain and support the classroom management procedures of the lead teacher, including assisting in the flow of a consistent daily routine

· Set-up and prepare for specific projects which might include labeling papers, cutting, gathering supplies, setting out toys and manipulatives, prepping for snack and lunch, etc.

  • Be sensitive to the lead teacher’s instructional needs and anticipate what is to happen next and plan accordingly

· Be proactive in classroom management strategies, considering attention span and age, and strive to anticipate and redirect to avoid developmentally inappropriate behavior

· Focus on positive behavior and use encouragement more than praise to help children develop a feeling of self-worth.

  • Develop rapport and interact spontaneously with every child by engaging in meaningful conversations and listening patiently to children during the day, at meal/snack times, and on the playground
  • Foster children’s emotional well-being through positive social conversations, eye contact, tone of voice, and smiling
  • Assist the lead teacher in maintaining written records of child progress, observation, and assessment
  • Assist lead teacher with curriculum goals by supporting and providing individualized learning
  • Avoid becoming a “diagnostician” of children’s behavior or limitations. Consultation with the teacher and director is more valuable than drawing one’s own conclusions.
  • Continually strive to build positive relationships with families
  • Use Brightwheel throughout the day as the major platform for communication between teachers, staff and parents
  • Be flexible when needed to cover absentee teachers in other classrooms
  • Arrange for substitute coverage with Administrative Coordinator two weeks in advance for non-emergency absences
  • Submit all DCF required paperwork, forms, personal health forms, and other requested documentation promptly
  • Within the first 90 days of employment, begin DCF training hours, and within one year of employment complete 45 DCF hours which will be reflected on transcript
  • MUST to a background fingerprint check prior to start date
  • Maintain staff credentials, according to DCF guidelines
  • Attend professional development sessions, accruing a minimum of ten hours by April 30
  • MUST be flexible with schedule

Be able to lift and carry 40 lbs., stand for long periods of time, bend, stretch, sit on the floor and rise again, and be willing to exert some physical strength in terms of classroom environment

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
