Job Description

The Director of Supply Chain will need to thrive in a team environment and lead the company to build its current purchasing, logistics, and inventory management operations. They will have the ability to effectively manage a team, make informed decisions, a strong attention to detail, and drive results. This includes implementing best practices with respect to planning, buying, inventory management, change management, trialing, and qualification. This person will be instrumental in daily Procurement, Logistics, and Inventory operations working hands-on with their team to manage suppliers, track their performance, and hold them accountable for quality and service, in addition to delivering strong service and cost efficiency to the operations & commercial teams.

This role reports to the COO and is responsible for the implementation of the supply chain strategy to support company operational goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead a team of sourcing, buying, and logistics professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Oversee Supply Chain processes, including sourcing, inventory control and logistics systems.
  • Directing and planning the sourcing and delivery of all raw materials and consumables to support Operations.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine processes for demand planning, procurement, inventory management, supplier management, and logistics.
  • Ensure a cost-effective supply chain with exceptional service levels.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators to ensure suppliers are held accountable to service and quality standards.
  • Develop best practices, implement and improve process efficiencies to support forecasting, inventory management, and supplier capacity management to ensure optimum and cost-effective product availability.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their purchasing needs and provide guidance on best practices.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, forecasting, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure successful testing and roll-out of new suppliers and/or materials.
  • Monitor and evaluate freight costs and find freight efficiencies to ensure the lowest expense.
  • Create, maintain, evaluate, and update specifications for all products to meet the needs of operations.
  • Lead building the Supply Chain weekly business review (WBR) deck for presentation to the executive team.

Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 10 years proven purchasing experience
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement management principles and best practices
  • Proven ability to develop and continuously improve procurement and inventory management processes in a rapidly evolving environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates strong ethical and professional standards that align with TemperPack values
  • Builds strong relationships internally and externally
  • Has demonstrated the ability to lead people to great results while working in the trenches with the team
  • Skill in developing high-performance teams and is a strong team player
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; prior usage of SAP B1 and D365 Business Central preferred
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • CPIM, CLTD, CSCP certified
  • Willing to travel up to 25% as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Be on your feet for 8-12 hours
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted
  • Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work in hot and cold environments
  • Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts
  • Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
