TITLE: Psychologist (Full and Part-time positions available) Various Locations

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To provide high quality psychological services to Tempe School District #3 in support of the district’s goals.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. M.A., M.S.Ed., Ed.S., Ph.D., Ed.D., or Psy.D. in School Psychology or Psychology
  2. Arizona School Psychologist Certification
  3. Obtain and maintain NCI, First Aid, and CPR certifications
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of academic and behavior interventions, including development of FBA and PBIPS
  5. Ability to conduct comprehensive psycho educational evaluations to determine eligibility for special education and determine student needs.
  6. Good knowledge of the nature and effects of the impairment(s) or disability(s) of students
  7. Knowledge of special education law, procedures, practices, and materials required to provide appropriate learning experiences for students
  8. Ability to assess needs, develop and implement the IEP, and evaluate outcomes in specialty
  9. Ability to coordinate activities with related and specialist staff
  10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, parents, and the community; excellent human relations skills; skill in both oral and written communications; ability to work in a multicultural environment with a diverse population of staff, students, and parents
  11. May be required to control certain behavior(s) through physical restraint
  12. Computer proficiency in district designated computer software, including MET and IEP software programs, Microsoft office, and other relevant software
  13. Ability to facilitate multidisciplinary meetings

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in identifying appropriate interventions including those related to crisis, school-wide, regular classroom, special education classrooms, and individual students.
  • Provide consultation to district and school administration, individual staff members, parents, community and specific programs within the district.
  • Provide psychological evaluations and expertise to the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) process in determining eligibility and specific programming needs of students.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions addressing the mental health needs of individual students, groups of students, and the families of students of Tempe School District #3.
  • Provide training on selected topics, and to practicum students, interns, and post-doctoral students as specified.
  • Provide school and district-wide training.
  • Provide support to Tempe School District #3 in an effort to evaluate individual programs, assist in establishing local norms and identifying student characteristics that will positively impact the education of all students.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records and reports for compliance with district, federal, and state guidelines.
  • Follow NASP/APA codes of ethics and state/federal laws regulating the practice of special education and school psychologists.
  • Follow state law and district policy with cases involving child abuse and neglect;
  • Provide ongoing consultation and support to teachers and teams in the development, design, and implementation of Functional Behavioral Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans for students experiencing difficulties.
  • Participate on district crisis team as needed.
  • Maintain competence and skills in the area of school psychology through continued professional growth.
  • Register with Medicaid as a provider.
  • Maintain daily and Medicaid logs and time study.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
