Position Summary
The Intake and Admissions Specialist serves as the initial point of contact for clients and visitors seeking AODA and mental health services within our organization. A clinician in this role possesses the clinical skill and experience to screen for level of care, triage, coordinate, and provide referrals for individuals inquiring about our programs and services. This role is also responsible for planning, assessing, and admitting clients to the treatment program. The Intake and Admission Specialist must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and organizational skills.

Essential Functions
· Explaining the scope of the organization’s services to current and potential clients, including walk-ins.
· Identifying the client’s need via phone screening for preventive, remedial or rehabilitative services and the availability of existing services.
· Ability to present professionally to internal and external clients in person, on the telephone, and in written communication including in times of crisis.
· Complete the admissions process for treatment in its entirety, from initial contact through intake.
· Manage bed availability and admissions calendar for the assigned treatment program/s.
· Work with insurance companies to verify benefits, member responsibilities, and obtain authorizations for the residential treatment program and other programs, as necessary and appropriate.
· Collaborate with the treatment program’s clinical team regarding admissions and current clients.
· Collaborate with internal and external referral sources for admissions to treatment, including triage to multiple programs within the organization.
· Complete clinical documentation in compliance with federal, state, county, and organizational policies, and procedures within the electronic health records system.
· Uphold the organization’s ethics and customer service standards.
· Complete Prior Authorizations for MCO and private insurance.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Bachelor’s degree in social services and 2 years of related experience
· Certification as Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC) or Substance Abuse Counselor in-training (SAC-IT)
