Description:

• Tech should be local in DAL in less than 1h driving/train to the DC
• The same Tech should be available on demand, sometimes on short notice; we would prefer the same tech all the time due to security issues.
• Tech should be able to talk to the customer on the phone while troubleshooting various connections.
• Tech should be experienced in understanding rack layout, port mapping,
• Should have his own set of tools to execute all the tasks.

Detailed job description:

• Install hardware (CISCO switches, routers, Servers, Firewalls, etc.) including NICs, power supplies, fans, etc.
• Able to differentiate SFP types and use the correct ones as per technical documentation.
• Understand DC requirements regarding cold/hot aisle.
• Cabling equipment, terminate cross connects for carrier circuits in a high-density environment without cables managers – copper, fiber, twinex, etc.
• Ability to trace cables and remediate when needed.
• Accurate cable labeling is required for each installation – should have his own cable labeler.
• Able to read rack layout diagrams, port mapping files and other technical documents required during installations.
• Able accurately to keep track of the on-site inventory, update spread sheets at the end of the working day.
• Excellent customer facing skills. Act as the liaison between Zones team and the customer when troubleshooting is needed (usually on a Teams bridge with multiple Engineers remote)
• Good communications skills, has to be able to describe a problem, understand the instructions provided and provide feedback back to the remote engineers.
• Self-driven, show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving
• Other duties as assigned. (example – carry equipment form the loading docks to the cage using a cart, or small packages)
• There are occasions when certain devices need to be packed and shipped to another location. The tech will drop off to the nearest UPS/FEDEX or similar.
• The ability and willingness to work flexible hours including after business hours, nights, or weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience installing and maintaining Data Center rack and stack and structured cabling management.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching, Standing and walking for up to 8 hours a day
