Description:

• The Clinical Auditor RN is responsible for conducting patient and third party audits for accuracy and completeness of patient charges and documentation
• Conducts identity review audits as requested and internal audits of organ procurement accounts and related medical accounts
• Maintains documentation of audit activity results and shares with staff and management as needed
• Provides guidance and training for nursing units and ancillary departments regarding documentation and charge entry
• Prefer a RN with auditing experience who is interested in long-term auditing - this covers a wide range.
• Prefer a coding or billing background.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
• Registered Nurse Required
• 2 Years Nursing - Related Area Required - Reimbursement Preferred
• Auditing skills
• Able to function and focus with significant attention to detail. Can read and understand patient medical records and other treatment documentation; interpret medical provider notes and comments, including the use of common acronyms and abbreviations.
• Identify discrepancies between medical information and financial charges. Able to review significant amounts of information/data and compile a summary or report.
• Excellent communication skills. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Effectively present information to groups and individuals.
• Able to analyze and resolve problems and complaints in collaboration with additional staff as needed.
• Understand (or collaborate with additional staff) to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations and policies related to patient accounting, billing, collections, and general hospital administration.
• Collect, interpret, and evaluate narrative and statistical data pertaining to auditing outcomes and patient matters; prepare complex reports, memoranda and other written materials.
• Working knowledge and experience in Epic (clinical and billing), Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access.
• Basic statistical skills and analysis of data.
