TEKsystems is Hiring a Cable technician Near Altoona, IA

Description :

We are hiring technicians to work at the Facebook data center in Altoona. In this position, you will work as a cable technician and be learning cabling on a grand scale as you build the cable infrastructure for them throughout the data center.

Your role will be to build out the infrastructure of the data center, including : pulling cable, pulling fiber, learning color codes, learning how to punch down and terminate fiber, installing cable trays and pathways, and build server racks.

No previous cabling experience is required. All skills necessary to perform the work will be trained on site. People with previous cabling experience are eligible to earn a higher starting wage.

Schedule :

The normal schedule is Monday through Thursday from 7 AM - 5 : 30 PM. Right now, the team is also working 10 hours on Friday and 8 hours on Saturday.

These hours are mandatory.

Job Responsibilities :

Install a work area outlet for floor ( monument), and wall ( box eliminator). Drop cable down a wall using fish tape or other method.

Route cable through data center. Perform pre-termination procedures : organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack and label cables.

Suspend and support cable correctly : Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze.

  • Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.
  • Perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls, install sleeves, pull cable through sleeves and core penetration.
  • Terminate low-voltage devices.
  • Follow prints.
