Description:
Our customer is seeking a Lead / Sr. System Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. The core job is to lead IT efforts to achieve business goals and objectives. The position reports to the IT Director and is responsible for ensuring the daily execution of that IT Director's portion of the strategic vision. The position manages multiple internal IT professionals and is responsible for prioritizing work, reporting work status, and helping mentor staff. The Lead is responsible for tracking monthly IT costs and service targets that pertain to their area of responsibility and tracking and reporting monthly performance to the business and IT management. The IT lead is also a key liaison between a subset of their functional departments and the IT organization, leveraging strong influence and communication to develop and deliver key value propositions.
In addition to the Management responsibility, this position is also responsible for managing the design, installation, administration, optimize company servers, storage infrastructure, and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported. This includes ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Where applicable, this position will Manage the physical and logical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm. Manage the administration of the virtual server environments and shared storage infrastructure. This position also includes architecting and implementing on-premise and assisting in cloud migrations where applicable.

Leverage influencing and negotiation skills across IT and the enterprise to enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions in the achievement of business goals; participate in the assessment of external and internal capabilities required to achieve desired business goals.
Develop employees and monitor team effectiveness to achieve timely desired results.
Manage initiatives by leveraging best practices in new system development efforts across a subset of their functional departments.
Maintain currency on new technologies and platforms and provide direction on what emerging retail technologies should be introduced, integrated, and assimilated with the enterprise.
Understand, enforce, and monitor best practices within their IT efforts - including ITIL, SDLC, change management, quality management, and SOX and PCI compliance; understand the business context to decisions made within and across groups.
Engage and advise key business and IT stakeholders throughout the company - align their teams' efforts to business goals and priorities.
Provide resolution to internal client issues, champion change, and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas.
Manage ongoing maintenance of existing System Center infrastructure. Team effort involving fellow System Engineers and Administration staff. Creation and execution of future SCOR automation run books as required by the business. Assist in SCOM alert tuning, closure event tuning, and reporting. SCCM administration's duties are to maintain and enhance already existing infrastructure, including the expansion of the environment from single primary and multiple secondary sites to central administration, two primaries, and 2x secondary.
Manage monitoring of all servers, applications, and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and exceed SLAs, maintain server performance, and collect, and review system data for capacity and planning purposes. Update/monitor server KPIs at defined intervals and compile monthly reports summarizing the health/status of servers across the enterprise.
Perform a wide range of system engineering and administration duties on web, application, database, and other servers and storage infrastructure, including install, debug, maintain, upgrading, and tier-3 support. This would include testing and deployment of hardware and software, assisting in disaster recovery planning, and creating/maintaining documentation for all processes and procedures, among other duties. Maintain security best practices on all operating systems.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide off-hour support; perform troubleshooting as needed; work closely with the IT team to provide end-user support and issue resolution, leading efforts for root cause analysis.
Support the development and execution of Office 365/Azure AD roadmaps and service strategy.
Responsible for the architectural design, development, and implementation of systems in the enterprise
Research, identify, and develop technology road maps that align with future goals of the business and account for growth, new technologies, and functionality.
Collaborate with other IT teams to research, evaluate, and recommend system technologies to support business requirements.
Maintain vendor relationships that bring value to the business.
Assist with daily support and maintenance of enterprise systems including but not limited to providing performance metrics, overall health checks, and recommendations to maintain service levels.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide off-hour support; perform troubleshooting as needed; work closely with the IT team to provide end-user support and issue resolution, support efforts for root cause analysis
