Responsibilities & Qualifications RESPONSIBILITIES Applies enterprise-wide disciplines for planning, analyzing, designing, and constructing information systems, utilizing analytical and computational techniques for problem-solving. Predicts performance trends and identifies anomalies through performance analysis. Specializes in systems operations, risk management, and industry technologies to develop migration and consolidation plans. Interfaces with IT customer and operations staff, performs process and data modeling, and applies reverse engineering disciplines. Provides technical guidance in software engineering and system design, particularly in system migration and consolidation. Serves as a key interaction point between NDU and the Contractor for data management and analytics implementation. Supports comprehensive data management, automation, and analytics for NDU's business processes, student performance, organizational health, and operations. Facilitates exceptional teaching and learning by applying expertise in data management strategy, insight, and transparency. As a Principal Information Engineer, your role will be to support comprehensive data management, automation, and analytics through the following responsibilities: * Serve as a translator of NDU component requirements, facilitating communication between business owners and front-end developers. * Collaborate with component and directorate leaders to develop technical requirements for priority data-analytics use-cases, ensuring agile execution. * Establish a data governance program at NDU to instill data discipline with a regular oversight cadence, documented via Data Governance Program Charter. * Clean, ingest, and connect data to analytic use cases, implement data flow quality and consistency, and provide training and support to data owners on data governance requirements and technical know-how. * Ensure adequate engineering of the performance layer for analytics, providing data quality KPIs and working collaboratively with the CIO and COO in developing the data governance program. * Act as a key interaction point between requirement owners within components and developers, managing training for data and application users. * Facilitate data-based decision-making, support effective data and knowledge management, and integrate data and information management into day-to-day operations. * Provide development capacity to execute data analytics requests from the project manager/translator for priority use cases. * Act as an end-to-end project manager, responsible for use case planning, development, and implementation. * Provide perspectives and lead discussions on determining the best analytic insights given available data. * Prioritize use cases and conduct diagnostics to identify use case opportunities for the organization. * Lead a multi-functional data team, orchestrating and coordinating with multiple business end-user stakeholders, including Data Owners and Feature Owners. * Support analytics design decisions made by Feature Owners, providing technical advice and defining clear plans for the analytics team. * Act as a bridge between the organization's analytics team, share insights with organizational stakeholders, and collect inputs to verify and iterate analytics results. * Guide the data team to develop the right visualizations to meet end-user requirements. * Diagnose existing architecture and data maturity, identify gaps, and enhance the data architecture with the broader data team while ensuring security and maintenance. * Build data tools and products, including data schemas, for effort automation and easy data accessibility. * Work closely with Data Owners to ensure data quality and availability for analytical modeling. * Gather requirements, assess gaps, and build roadmaps and architecture to help leadership make informed decisions. * Explore suitable options, designs, and create data lake/data warehouses for specific analytical solutions. * Identify gaps and implement solutions for data security, quality, and automation of processes. * Support maintenance, bug fixing, and performance analysis along the data pipeline. * Create applications, dashboards, reports, and other data visualization outputs using NDU provided business intelligence tools. * Ensure code follows coding best practices and industry standards. * Work closely with back-end developers to properly integrate Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). * Collaborate with Feature Owners to iterate and develop design changes. * Provide fully developed and implemented dashboards, including: * Staffing levels by type of role and content of work. * Aggregated view of key functional KPIs across NDU. * Tracking issuance requirements related to policies and procedures.
